Research & Scientific Instrumentation

Scientific research has a habit of requiring parts that do not yet exist.

Experimental systems and specialized instruments often call for unusual materials, unique geometries, extremely small quantities, or components designed for a single purpose. Standard catalog optics may come close without actually meeting the requirement, and in research, “close” is often not enough.

CPT works with engineers, laboratories, universities, government research groups, and R&D teams to manufacture custom optics and close-tolerance glass components for experimental, analytical, and measurement systems. Our flexibility is particularly valuable for prototypes, one-off components, low-volume production, specialized replacement parts, and projects still evolving through development. These jobs often require more than simply following a drawing; they may involve understanding what is critical, recognizing what is manufacturable, and working through the details of a component that has never been made before.
